My journey in fitness started a very young age. I grew up a football coach’s daughter, so sports were a staple in my upbringing. I played basketball and ran track throughout high school, and a year of each at the collegiate level. Due to an unfortunate knee injury my athletic career was over, but it was only the beginning as I found myself introduced to the fitness industry. I received a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Wyoming and moved to Chicago. I’ve been a personal trainer for over 20 years, and worked in all kinds of fitness related fields.
My love of CrossFit didn’t come until I agreed to attend a class in Chicago to amuse a friend in 2016. My initial thought going in, was this isn’t for me. Boy, was I humbly wrong. I couldn’t get enough of it! Not only was the workout different to what I was used to, it challenged me in a way I hadn’t been in a long time. I felt like an athlete again. I became a member that day and never looked back. I found CrossFit already fit into how I trained myself and clients and quickly became a coach. CrossFit has been an integral part of my life since I started this journey.
Not only for the physical benefits, but for the emotional and mental value it brought me. Life has so many ups and downs as is, but finding something that brings such a positive perspective, with support all around you is why I love it.
