Coach and Programming
I started CrossFit in 2009. It was our weight and conditioning program in College (Swimming). To be honest I didn’t enjoy Crossfit very much at first. But once I saw my times get better and my overall physique improve, I started to get excited to work out (which was a big deal as a 18 year old college student who enjoyed donuts).
My why for continuing CrossFit is keep myself prepared for the fireground or any other strenuous call while on shift, to spend time working out with my wife (Enya) and to maintain an overall healthier lifestyle so that we can be good examples to our kids.
I love watching people PR, or do something for the first time that they may never have thought that they could have done before joining a Crossfit gym is one of the best parts of being a coach.
My favorite workout is Diane, 21-15-9 Deadlifts and hand-stand push-ups My two favorite movements are deadlifts and hand-stand push-ups. I love the simplicity of the deadlift with the complexity of the HSPU mixed together. Plus the workout is pretty short, so that’s a big bonus.
Something you might not know about me is, I may be the biggest Disney nerd you’ll ever meet. I’ve been to Disney World 17 times so far. My wife and I go yearly and we don’t plan on stopping any time soon!
CrossFit has given me so many things. A way to improve as a swimmer, a competitive outlet post swimming, a family to have through some tough personal events, allowing me to meet my now wife, and now a way to keep myself in shape for work. It only makes sense to me that I try to share that with as many people as I can. I look forward to being a part of the Iron Horse family!
